Will Samuel Eto’o become the new president of the Cameroon Football Federation (Fecafoot)? The answer will be known in a few minutes this Saturday since the elective General Assembly of the body has been taking place this morning at 9 am local time at the Mont Fébé hotel in Yaoundé.

With less than a month before the AFCON 2022 that the country is due to host from January 9, this election is bound to receive special attention.

The former FC Barcelona striker, has gained a lot of supports especially from former players and other football stars like Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo, Roger Milla, Rigobert Song among others.


The election should mainly be played between Eto’o and the outgoing president Seidou Mbombo Njoya.

A total of 76 delegates will be invited to vote: 60 of them come from the ten regional leagues, 10 come from professional clubs (six from Elite 1 and four from Elite 2) and the last 6 represent the trades (referees, coaches and players).

The presidential race has proven to be ruthless in recent days, with Eto’o attempting in particular to obtain the suspension of Mbombo Njoya, whom he had supported at the time of his election in 2018, for “corruption, manipulation of matches and embezzlement ”.
