While the Swiss billionaire Hansjörg Wyss and the American Todd Boehly among others are candidates for the takeover of the Chelsea FC club, a Ghanaian politician and businessman has also publicly expressed his interest in buying the club.

Ghanaian politician Bernard Antwi Boasiako popularly known as Chairman Wontumi has said he is ready to join the race to buy the English club and make some changes to it.

“I want us to go and buy the Chelsea club…Those who own clubs are not footballers. They are businessmen like me,” the businessman said in an interview on his Radio/TV.

Although Wontumi, who is currently Chairman of the ruling party (NPP) in the Ashanti region in Ghana, has made these statements like a jest , the 46-year-old businessman did not indicate in the video that it was a joke.

Hansjörg Wyss from Switzerland also said he wants to buy the club two days ago, before the English media revealed that Todd Boehly had also positioned himself.

The Swiss has never been linked with football, but the American has already tried to buy out Tottenham and Chelsea in 2019.

Roman Abramovich announced last week that the club Chelsea, which he has owned since 2003, was for sale. The “current situation”, namely the Russian invasion of Ukraine and the sanctions taken against Moscow, pushes the Russian businessman to take this decision to “sell the club”.
