After his injury on November 8 in Bayern Munich’s 6-1 victory against Werder Bremen, Sadio Mané was still called up by Senegal coach Aliou Cissé, despite his physical glitch. Currently in Munich to continue treatment, the football star must finally give up.
Sadio Mané will not play in the Qatari World Cup, scheduled from November 20 to December 18, 2022.
At a press conference this Thursday evening, the doctor of the Senegalese selection confirmed it and indicated that the player was even going to be operated soon.
“The latest news arrived just now and since Sadio Mané’s injury which happened on November 8, we had contacted the Bayern Munich club to get the information first and the next day the club had sent us the images from his first MRI he had. It showed an injury to hid right knee and for which they invited us to re-examine the player and the images within the club, which is why I moved on November 10 and 11, ” the Teranga Lions doctor said before making the news official.
“It had been concluded to redo an MRI today to control the evolution and to know if it was possible, or not, for Sadio Mané to hold his place for this World Cup. Unfortunately, today’s MRI shows us that the evolution is not favorable as we had imagined and we unfortunately resolve to declare Sadio’s package for this World Cup. Surgical intervention should be scheduled very soon.
Terrible news for the player, Bayern Munich and Senegal, orphan of his star before finding the Netherlands, Ecuador and Qatar, host country, in group A.
