The numbers are growing daily, as Turkey and Syria continue rescue operations following the earthquakes that hit the two neighboring countries early this week.

A total of 21,848 bodies have been recovered so far in Turkey, according to Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. Authorities also counted 3,553 dead in Syria.

Turkish President made the announcement during a visit to the city of Sanliurfa, in the southeast of the country.

For the time being, no news has been given on the situation of Ghanaian footballer Christian Atsu, who has also been in the rubble since Monday.
