Six people were killed and another injured in an attack on a nursery school in China on Monday morning. A suspect has been arrested and an investigation launched.
A deadly attack left 6 people dead this morning in China. The scene was a nursery school in Lianjiang, in the southern province of Guangdong.
According to a municipal spokeswoman, “a teacher, two parents and three pupils” were among the victims. She added that “a suspect has been arrested” and an investigation has been launched. However, the authorities did not specify the age or identity of the victims.
The attack took place at around 7.40am local time (11.40pm GMT on Sunday). According to Reuters, the local press reported that it was a knife attack.
In China, citizens are not allowed to carry firearms. This does not prevent knife attacks. Schools are the main targets of such incidents, forcing the government to step up security around them.
