In an effort to equip its member nations with essential skills to support their development, the Commonwealth organization has initiated a scholarship program aimed at educating its citizens.

The Commonwealth Scholarships Commission in the United Kingdom has announced a call for applications for its annual scholarship program, available to citizens and residents of member countries including Botswana, Cameroon, Eswatini, Gabon, Ghana, Kenya, Lesotho, Malawi, Mauritius, Mozambique, Namibia, Nigeria, Rwanda, Sierra Leone, South Africa, Tanzania, The Gambia, Togo, Uganda, and Zambia.

It’s worth noting that individuals with refugee status in any of the aforementioned countries are also eligible to apply. However, candidates must hold a bachelor’s or master’s degree and possess proficiency in English.

Applications will be evaluated based on academic merit, the quality of the research proposal, and its potential impact on the candidate’s home country’s development.

Recipients of these scholarships will have the opportunity to pursue master’s and doctoral studies at universities in the United Kingdom, with programs commencing in September/October 2024. These scholarships will cover tuition fees and provide various allowances.

Interested candidates have until October 17th to submit their applications.
