The Ghana immigration officers arrested two suspected armed robbers, all Togolese, at one of the unapproved duty stations in the northwest region of the country.

Emmanuel Kombat in his written statement gave information about his accomplice Lala Mohammed who was later arrested by immigration officials.

He revealed that he entered Ghana illegally via an unapproved route at the Bunkprugu border post in the North East region in 2019 and traveled to Suaboi to work at a galamsey site where he was earning money. money.

Emmanuel indicated that over time he came into contact with a certain Abu Sunyani who introduced him and twenty young men to armed robbery which he said was a very lucrative business given the fact that they stole motorcycles and robbed road users at places like Suaboi, Dadieso, Akatiso, Nkyensekokoo and other nearby communities for their money and other valuables, adding that the weapons they used had been purchased from an Alhaji in Ivory Coast.

Officers were able to recover a locally made pistol and three (3) cartridges from Lala Mohammed and an unregistered Boxer motorcycle that was being used by Emmanuel Kombat at the time of his arrest, two phones (Android Infinix phone and Itel phone) at the time of the arrest.

After that, they were handed over to the Juaboso District Police Command. However, a crowd of communities who wanted to lynch the arrested suspects damaged vehicles belonging to the Ghana Immigration and Immigration Service.
