Algerian football is in mourning after the death on Friday December 24 of Sofiane Loukar in the second division match between his team MC Saïda and ASM Oran.


According to Algerian media, Sofiane Loukar, 30, died of a head trauma caused by a violent fall.

After receiving medical treatment, MC Saïda’s captain returned to the field and collapsed moments later.

He could not be resuscitated and died of cardiac arrest. The match was logically interrupted.
