Several countries, including African nations will participate from July 28 to August 10 in the 44th Chess Olympiad. The country that will host the big event is finally known.
Initially scheduled for Moscow, India took over the biggest chess competition in the world due to the war between kyiv and Moscow.
The 44th edition will take place in the Mecca of chess – Chennai, formerly Madras – which saw the birth of chaturanga, the ancestor of the current game – with participants from more than 150 countries.
“Our teams have benefited from intensive training thanks to experts made available by the development program of the International Chess Federation,” said Enyonam Sewa Fumey, president of the Togolese Chess Federation, on Wednesday.
Togo has participated in all the Olympiads for 10 years.
