Emmanuel Adebayor reacted to the coronation of Karim Benzema, his former teammate at Real Madrid. The French player won the 2022 Ballon d’Or on Monday evening ahead of Sadio Mané and Kevin De Bruyne at the Théâtre du Châtelet in Paris.
He no longer had any rivalries in front of him as his direct competitors like Sadio Mané and Robert Lewandowski have publicly declared that he deserves the Ballon d’Or this year.
And Benzema indeed won the trophy awarded by France Football on Monday, October 17, receiving it from the hands of Zinedine Zidane, his former coach at Real Madrid.
Passed by Real Madrid in 2010-2011, Emmanuel Adebayor did not remain on the sidelines of this coronation which does not suffer from any dispute and sent his messages of congratulations to Karim Benzema.
“What a player, what a man ! Congratulations on this major achievement Karim Benzema”, wrote the former captain of the Sparrowhawks of Togo on his social media handles.
As a reminder, Emmanuel Adebayor spent the 2010-2011 season on loan to Real Madrid from Manchester City.

The Togolese netted 8 goals in 24 games for Los Merengues who had Mesut Özil and Cristiano Ronaldo in their ranks back then.
