Cristiano Ronaldo has reportedly threatened to leave since he did not start for the round of 16 of the World Cup between Portugal and Switzerland (6-1), on Tuesday, several sources report.

According to several media, Cristiano Ronaldo threatened to leave after learning of his non-tenure for the round of 16 of the 2022 World Cup between Portugal and Switzerland.

The five-time Ballon d’Or is said to have however quickly given up leaving the gathering, aware of the importance of the moment and the negative consequences that his gesture could have had.

After the match, the coach Fernando Santos had justified the tenure of Gonçalo Ramos in place of CR7 … with tactical arguments.

“These are different players,” the Seleçao coach had tempered after the match.

“I also started Diogo Dalot and Raphaël Guerreiro, while João Cancelo is a fabulous player. I felt that’s what we needed for this match against Switzerland,” he added.

Before the match, Santos had however regretted the attitude of CR7 during his replacement against South Korea.

On Wednesday, the day after his team’s success against the Nati, during which he still failed to score his first goal in the knockout phase of the World Cup, CR7 did not participate in the collective session with the rest of the substitutes.

According to information relayed by several media, the star of the Seleçao was content with indoor work. But Cristiano Ronaldo did not suffer from any physical discomfort and would be in perfect health.

On Saturday, Portugal will face Morocco for a place in the semi-finals of the 2022 World Cup. Again, the presence or not of the top scorer of the Portuguese selection (118) on the lawn at kick-off will be at the center of all attention.
