Former Ghana Football Association (GFA) boss Alhaji Mohammed Nuru-Deen Jawula has died at the age of 73 in the United States of America, the governing body of football in Ghana announced in the weekend.


The man who led the GFA from 1997 to 2001 also chaired the MTN FA Cup Committee and the Ghana Premier League Organizing Committee until his passing.

“The affable football administrator also served as the Chief Director of the Ministry of Finance at a stage in his illustrious career. The late M.N.D Jawula became a member of the GFA from 1995, and rose to the position of vice chairman to Nana Sam Brew-Butler – then GFA Chairman”, reads the official statement of the GFA.


Football-wise, he was chairman of the management committee of Real Tamale United and owned his own football club, Guan United.
