The Former captain of the Sparrowhawks of Togo Emmanuel Sheyi Adebayor has announced his retirement on Monday March 20, 2023 from professional football.


“From the highs to the lows, my career as a professional athlete has been an incredible journey. Thank you to my fans for being there every step of the way. I’m feeling so grateful for everything, and excited for what’s to come!”, he wrote on his official Instagram account.

Emmanuel Adebayor, 39, played for clubs including, As Monaco, Real Madrid, Arsenal, Manchester City, Tottenham and along with Turkish clubs Basaksehir and Kayserispor.

Winner of African Ballon d’Or 2008, Sheyi netted 29 goals in his 66 caps for the Togolese national team.
