Burkina Faso snatched the last qualifying ticket for the semi-finals of AFCON U17 2023 after their precious victory this Thursday against Nigeria (2-1). A feat for the Cadet Stallions who also qualify for the World Cup in the category.
Burkina Faso joins Senegal, Morocco and Mali in the list of countries qualified for the semi-finals of AFCON U17 2023.
The young Stallions won their ticket for the last four after their victory against Nigeria on Thursday evening. Opposed to the Golden Eagles in a match counting for the quarter-finals, the Burkinabè won with a score of 2-1.
More realistic in the game, Burkina Faso opened the scoring through Aboubacar Sidiki Camara (0-1, 45th). A real blow to the head just before half-time.
After the break, the young players of Brahima Traoré quickly made the break with a second goal. On the left side, Souleymane Alio provoked Ogboji, forcing him to concede a penalty. Aboubacar Camara won his duel against Odoh and doubled the lead (0-2, 57th).
The end of the game became livelier with the Golden Eaglets pressing more on offense. Back on the wall, Nduka Ugbade’s men reacted and closed the gap a few minutes later. Oluwasegun Daniel infiltrated on the left side and delivered an assist to Abubakar Abdullahi. The latter only had to push the ball into the empty goal (1-2, 67th).
A score that will no longer evolve despite some hot actions from the Nigerians in the den of the Stallions. Burkina Faso therefore takes the last qualifying ticket for the semi-finals and the U17 World Cup. They will face Amara Diouf’s Senegal in the last four, a meeting that promises to be exciting.
