Victor Osimhen and Napoli’s New Pact Until 2026

Napoli’s sensational Nigerian striker, Victor Osimhen, has defied the constraints of time by extending his contract until the soccer-soaked year of 2026. The announcement was made through the club’s social media on Saturday afternoon.

On the 23rd December 2023 , Napoli’s president, Aurelio De Laurentiis, shared images of himself alongside a smiling Osimhen, engaged in signing paperwork and exchanging handshakes, accompanied by the word “done.” A few minutes later, the club also uploaded these pictures, declaring, “Victor & Napoli together until 2026.”

Osimhen, named the Best Player in African football for 2023, has therefore extended his time with Napoli for another year. The new contract is worth €10m per year after tax. According to Italian football journalist, Fabrizio Romano, the contract extension comes with an interesting detail – a €130 million release clause.

Since joining Napoli in September 2020, the 24-year-old player has scored an impressive 67 goals and made 17 assists in 118 games. Despite facing challenges at the beginning of the current season with 8 goals and 3 assists in 17 games, Osimhen’s past achievements, crucial for winning last season’s title, led to him being named Africa’s best player in 2023.

The striker’s journey hasn’t been without its share of ups and downs. Victor Osimhen faced challenges and tensions with former coach Rudi Garcia and teammates at the start of this season. However, like a true champion, he embraced these difficulties, adding an intriguing layer to his story and showing his strong commitment to his adventure with Napoli.
