Pan-African channel, New World TV, expands reach with UEFA



The New World TV group of television networks announced on Wednesday the acquisition of broadcasting rights for the UEFA Champions League, as well as several other UEFA competitions for the period 2024-2027.

Pan-African channel, New World, held a press conference on Wednesday, February 21st, at the 2 Février Hotel in Lomé. The leaders of the group, based in the Capital of Togo, announced to national and international partners and media the acquisition of broadcasting rights for UEFA inter-club competitions for 26 Sub-Saharan Francophone and semi-Francophone countries over the next three seasons.

“We may not have the big Wednesday fixtures [in the UCL], but we have all the other Champions League matches. We have secured 91% of the matches in this competition,” said the group’s legal representative, Louis Biyao, during the official announcement conference. He added: “We have also acquired broadcasting rights for the Europa League, the Europa Conference League, and the Youth League.”

Established in 2015, the Togolese private television group now has extensive experience in broadcasting major tournament matches, following the last two Women’s World Cups, the 2022 Men’s World Cup in Qatar, the 2023 AFCON in Ivory Coast, and other significant tournaments. According to the leaders of the media group New World TV will also broadcast the entirety of Euro 2024 this summer.
