In the wake of Al-Nassr’s disappointing quarterfinal elimination from the Asian Champions League, Cristiano Ronaldo took to his social media platforms on Tuesday evening to address the club’s supporters.
The Saudi club’s journey in the tournament met an abrupt end on Monday night, suffering a quarterfinal defeat to Al-Ain on penalties. This setback dealt a blow to the club’s aspirations, mirroring the disappointment felt by their star player, Cristiano Ronaldo.
After Al Ain’s 1-0 victory in the first leg, they dominated early in Riyadh, scoring two first-half goals. Al-Nassr narrowed the deficit just before halftime when a mistake by Al Ain’s goalkeeper left him stranded, allowing Sadio Mané to assist Abdulrahman Ghareeb for a goal.

Later, Ronaldo witnessed Eisa save two shots in rapid succession. Nevertheless, the Portuguese forward was subsequently brought down in the box and converted the resulting penalty, equalizing the aggregate score to 4-4. In the penalty shootouts, only Cristiano Ronaldo managed to score for Al Nassr.

Despite his stature as a five-time Ballon d’Or winner, Ronaldo faced criticism from the Saudi press for his lackluster performance in the decisive match.

Undeterred by the media scrutiny, Ronaldo used his social media presence to reassure fans and showcase his determination. “Thank you for your support. We’ll find a way to bounce back and come back stronger! Together, always!” he stated.
With his contract tied to Al-Nassr until 2025, the Portuguese forward undoubtedly harbors hopes of reversing the club’s fortunes in the upcoming season and restoring success. However, the pressure on him and his teammates will be immense as they strive to regroup quickly and aim for a brighter future in 2025.
