The FIFA World Cup African qualifiers resumed with intense matchups on Wednesday, June 5th, as African teams continued their campaigns to secure spots for the 2026 global tournament.

Central African Republic 1-0 Chad

Central African Republic edged Chad 1-0 thanks to a decisive goal by Geoffrey Kondogbia in the 29th minute. This victory moves Central African Republic to third place in the standings, while Chad remains at the bottom.

Togo 1-1 South Sudan

Togo were held to a 1-1 draw at home by a resilient South Sudan side. The hosts took the lead just after the hour mark when Khaled Narey fired them ahead. However, the joy was short-lived as Roger Aholou scored an own goal in the 68th minute, allowing South Sudan to escape with a point. Togo now sits fourth in Group B, with South Sudan in fifth.


Namibia 1-1 Liberia

Namibia started strong with Tijpe Karuuombe scoring in the 8th minute. However, Liberia equalized in the 65th minute through Tonia Tisdell, resulting in a 1-1 draw.

Sierra Leone 2-1 Djibouti

Sierra Leone secured a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Djibouti. C. Davies opened the scoring in the 12th minute, followed by A. Kargbo’s goal in the 51st minute. Despite G. Dadzie’s penalty goal for Djibouti in the 35th minute, Sierra Leone managed to hold on for the win.

Tunisia 1-0 Equatorial Guinea

In a tightly contested match at Stade Olympique Hammadi Agrebi, Tunisia claimed a 1-0 victory over Equatorial Guinea. The decisive moment came from a penalty converted by M. A. Ben Romdhane in the 82nd minute.
