Ghana’s André Ayew parts ways with Le Havre

Ghanaian forward André Ayew has officially ended his spell at Le Havre AC, the French Ligue 1 club confirmed on Friday.

In a statement posted on social media, Le Havre bid farewell to the veteran attacker, who played a crucial role in the team’s top-flight survival over the past two seasons.

“A warrior on the pitch, André Ayew set an example for all the Sky & Marine. He truly understood HAC, its fans, Le Havre, and its people. All the best, André,” the club wrote.

Ayew, 35, joined Le Havre in November 2023 and quickly became a pivotal figure both on and off the field. In the 2024-2025 Ligue 1 campaign, he made 27 appearances, scoring 4 goals and providing 1 assist. His leadership and experience were widely credited with helping stabilize the squad following their return to the top tier.

Born in Seclin, France, Ayew has enjoyed an extensive career spanning clubs including Olympique de Marseille, Swansea City, and Al Sadd. He is also one of Ghana’s most capped players, having represented the Black Stars in multiple Africa Cup of Nations and FIFA World Cup tournaments.

Now a free agent, Ayew is available on the transfer market and reportedly open to new challenges as he enters the final stretch of his illustrious career.

His departure marks the end of an era for Le Havre, as the club prepares to rebuild ahead of the 2025-2026 Ligue 1 season.
