The Mystery remained around the burial place of former Beninese First Lady Rosine Soglo. The latest news is that her remains will be burned and reduced to ashes in Ghana.
While the last tributes of the former first lady, Rosine Soglo, took place this Saturday, September 11, 2021 at the headquarters of the NGO Vidolé in Cotonou, the mystery remained at the place of burial.
On the evening of Saturday the 11th, a source contacted by AfrikPage revealed that the body of the wife of former President Nicéphore Soglo will not be buried as announced by the organizing committee’s program.
The Soglo family chose cremation instead of burial, another source reports.
The family has obtained permission from the Home Office to take the body to Ghana, our source tells us.
According to the latest details, the body should already be in Accra. A decision both surprising and unprecedented.
Is this a roundabout way of allowing his son Léhady Soglo, residing in Paris, and under sentence of the Beninese justice system, to see the remains of his deceased mother for the last time?
Rosine Honorine Vieyra Soglo was a Beninese politician. Soglo served as First Lady of Benin from 1991 to 1996 during the presidency of her husband, Nicéphore Soglo who was Prime Minister of Benin from 1990 to 1991 and Mayor of Cotonou from 2003 to 2015. Rosine died on July 25, at the age of 87.
We will come back to it !
