Just over a week before the start of the 33rd edition of the African Nations Cup, here are the two countries that will participate for the first in their history in this continental competition, AFCON 2021.

The African Cup comes with its history, its records and its special numbers. Among the 24 African nations which will compete for the continent’s most prestigious crown, two of them are new in this competition.

On Cameroonian soil, the Comoros will take part in their first African Nations Cup in their history.

Exempted from the first qualifying round, they play in Group G of the 2021 African Nations Cup qualifiers with Kenya, Egypt and Togo.

On March 25, 2021, the Comoros pulled off a draw against Togo, qualifying for the Africa Cup of Nations for the first time in their history.

Same feat for Gambia, which will for the first time in its history be one of the nations qualified for the African Football Cup.

The Scorpions started qualifying with a 3-1 victory in Luanda over Angola, which sparked a click in the Scorpions squad for whom anything was possible from then on.

The return leg victory over Angola sent the Gambians over the moon to finish first in their group and qualify for AFCON 2021.
