In a statement published this Sunday February 27, 2022, Chelsea FC have expressed their displeasure with the ongoing conflict in Ukraine.
The English club has described the current situation in the European country as “horrific and devastating”.
“The situation in Ukraine is horrific and devastating. Chelsea FC’s thoughts are with everyone in Ukraine. Everyone at the club is praying for peace”, the club said.
Russian President Vladimir Putin on Thursday ordered his army to carry out a “special operation” in neighboring Ukraine. This invasion has already cost the lives of many people and made more than 100,000 refugees according to the United Nations.
Football players as well as clubs across the world especially in Europe are calling for peace amid the rising death toll in Ukraine.
Former England player David Beckham also spoke out on Sunday, calling for support for children who are clearly affected by this conflict.
