South African athlete Stephen Mokoka achieved a tremendous performance in the 50 km road race on Sunday March 6, 2022. He set himself the world record in this race walking event for his first attempt.
At 37, Mokoka posted the world’s best performance of all time in the 50 km road race in Gqeberha, a South African city.

He covered the distance in 2 hours 40 minutes 13 seconds. This allows him to smash the previous record of 2 hours 42 minutes 07 seconds set by the Ethiopian Ketema Negasa a year ago.
The other two places on the podium were also occupied by South Africans. Tete Dijana is second, in 2 hours 44 minutes 08 seconds. In third position, we find Edward Mothibi, with a time of 2 hours 45 minutes 02 seconds.
