Considering themselves cheated by the referee during their match against Cameroon last Tuesday (1-2), the Algerian authorities announce that they have filed an appeal. In Qatar at the start of the weekend, the president of the world governing body of Football, Gianni Infantino gives his opinion on the match.
According to the information, the Algerians have demanded neither more nor less that the game be replayed, as well as the opening of an investigation into Gambian referee Bakary Gassama.
The (ex) boss of the Algerian Football Federation (FAF), Charaf-Eddine Amara, had however declared that he did not really believe in the outcome of this request. And he was quite right.
Last Friday, and a few hours before the draw for the final phase of the World Cup, Gianni Infantino spoke on the subject.
As he left an exhibition match played in Doha with the prestigious guests invited to the ceremony, the Swiss declared: “The appeal of Algeria? I am not aware “. Faced with the insistence of the journalist, he then bid: “Algeria played very well. But, unfortunately, that’s football. Football can be tough.”
An unequivocal answer which has something to definitively cool the desires of the Fennecs and all their supporters.
