Negotiations between Chelsea and Inter Milan are progressing over a paying loan deal for Romelu Lukaku in Lombardy. Currently, only a difference of 5 million euros slows down the completion of the deal.

Last December, Romelu Lukaku surprised everyone by publicly proclaiming his love for Inter Milan, just four months after leaving to return to Chelsea:

“I always said I had Inter in my heart. (…) I like Italy. It’s the right time for me to say it, I really hope from the bottom of my heart to come back to Inter, not at the end of my career but again when I find myself at the highest level to win.”

A difference of only €5 million for Lukaku to leave

In great difficulty with the Blues with his 8 goals scored in 26 Premier League games this season, “Big Rom” intends to leave, as soon as possible, to revive. And the Red Devil has only one goal: to return to Inter.

A desire shared by the Nerazzurri, who have been working for several weeks on a possible comeback from the Belgian.

According to a report from Sky Italia on Thursday, and La Gazzetta dello Sport, Lukaku’s deal will only be more than 5 million euros from the vice-champion of Italy.

The same sources indicate that, while the Blues are demanding a paying loan of 15 million euros, the Milanese are currently offering 10 million euros. A fairly small gap which should leave room for a compromise between the two clubs, at the end of well-planned negotiations.

According to information from La Repubblica, the former Everton has agreed to lower his salary from 12 to 7.5 million euros.

If this gesture was essential to make his return possible, it also demonstrates the striker’s desire to find Inter, a club in which he had offered his best football until the summer of 2021 (80 goals in 112 games).
