The two Ghana Black Stars, Felix Afena-Gyan, Andre Ayew and their compatriot Sulley Muntari, were among the players rewarded for their exemplary displays in the just concluded seasons by winning Calcio Trade Ball 2022 awards on Sunday.
“Thank you for this honour, the highest at the CTB awards,” Ayew twitted. “It has been an eventful season of football for me. Club and international football have given me a lot. This award should be extra fuel. Thank you.”
Afena-Gyan, who capped off the just-completed season after helping AS Roma lift the Europa Conference League trophy following a victory (1-0) over Feyenoord in the final, was also voted Most Promising Player of the year.
Other winners of the night include AC Milan’s Franck Kessie, who was named Serie A player of the year. Meanwhile, former Black Star Sulley Muntari, who currently plays for Hearts of Oak, received the Lifetime Achievement Award.
Edmund Addom, who plays for FC Sheriff in Moldova, also picked the Arthur Legacy of the Year laurel.
The Calcio Trade Ball is an annual event organized by ArthurLegacy Sports which brings together Ghanaian footballers based mainly in Italy with the business and diplomatic community.
