Senegalese international Sadio Mané was not the only one to be crowned Thursday evening during the CAF Awards ceremony organized in Rabat, Morocco. His country leaves with five trophies.

First, the new Bayern Munich player won his second best player of the year title after that of the last edition in 2020.

“I am very moved I don’t even have the words, I dedicate it to the youth of my country”, confided Mané, 2nd Senegalese to win this trophy after El Hadj Diouf in 2001.

Sadio Mané, Egyptian Mohamed Salah from Liverpool and goalkeeper Edouard Mendy (Chelsea-Senegal) were the finalists in this category.

Senegal were also voted the best national team in Africa, while coach Aliou Cissé won the award for best coach of the year.

The African champions thus leave with a total of five prizes, after the young Lions of Teranga, Pape Ousmane Sakho and Pape Matar Sarr respectively won the prizes for the best goal of the year and the best young player of the year.
