Next month, the most decorated women’s basketball teams from across West Africa will compete for the Crown Elite Women’s Basketball title. A chance to win over 4 million naira (nearly $10,000) cash and other rewards.

The Reformers Basketball Club of Ghana, Etoile Filante Basketball Club of Togo, six (6) Nigerian women’s basketball clubs and two (2) international women’s clubs are selected for this event which will take place from August 21 to 27, 2022.


This third edition will also see the participation of some men’s teams in exhibition matches throughout the week, as well as a Celebrity All-Star Game.

Participating teams will include Ebun Comets of Lagos, Lagos Legend Basketball Club, University of Lagos Basketball Team and MoHeat Basketball Club of Abuja.

“The event will also be accompanied by Crown Elite’s first-ever three-day Women’s Empowerment Expo and presented in conjunction with Ayo Charity Foundation. The focus is on empowering and developing female basketball players,” the organisers said.

“Crown Elite championship events plan to become the most renowned national and international forum for showcasing talented athletes.”

Crown Elite Sports is an international sports management organization founded by former international player Hanson Oguche. The aim is to maximize the potential of talented young athletes and professional players.
