Tobi Amusan has won the first gold medal in the history of Nigeria at the World Athletics Championships on July 24, 2022, in Eugene in the North West of the United States of America.

She won the final of the 100 meters haires in 12 seconds 06. A time not approved due to the too favorable wind.

Tobi Amusan World Record

Tobi Amusan has indeed given the smile to Nigerians, this Sunday, July 24, 2022 in the U.S.A, a few days after the sad 4th place of Nigerian footballers at the WAFCON 2022 in Morocco.

This also comes a few weeks after the forced withdrawal of basketball players for the next World Cup.

The 25-year-old hurdler thus won the first gold medal in the history of her country at the World Championships in Athletics.

On the other hand, the multiple gold medalist (African Games 2015 and 2019, Commonwealth Games 2018, African Championships 2018) had broken the world record in the semi-finals, in 12’12”.

Tobi Amusan embodies the next generation of Nigerian athletics with Ese Brume, silver in the long jump in Eugene and already bronze at the 2019 Worlds and the 2021 Olympics.

A welcome succession for this country whose ex-superstar, Blessing Okagbare, was suspended for ten years for doping.
