Ahead of the 2022 African Nations Championship, known as CHAN 2022, the local Sparrowhawks of Togo beat their counterparts from the Ivory Coast in a friendly match in Lomé, this Thursday, July 28, 2022.


In training camp in the Togolese capital, as part of the preparations for the CHAN 2022 qualifiers, the selection of local players won the first leg of the double friendly confrontation against the Ivorians.

After a scoreless first half, Ouro-Nimi Nazif opened the scoring in the 52nd minute before Ouattara Moutalabou made it 2-0.

The Ivorians managed to reduce the score thanks to a goal from Coulibaly Kader.

However, the captain of the local Sparrowhawks, Wome Dove, by a masterful free kick, brings the score to 3 goals to 1 for the victory of the Sparrowhawks.

The two teams meet next Sunday for the return leg at the Kégué stadium. Entrance to the stadium is free for spectators.

As a reminder, the qualifiers continue for this tournament which will begin in Algeria on Sunday January 8, 2023 and will end on Tuesday January 31, 2023.

Last Sunday, Ghana’s Black Galaxies took a first-leg advantage after victory over Benin in Cape Coast (3-0).
