French world champion N’Golo Kanté, victim of a “serious” thigh injury, will be out for several weeks, his coach at Chelsea, Thomas Tuchel, announced on Friday August 19, three months before kick-off of the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

“For N’Golo, it’s quite serious. We are talking about weeks [of absence], which is not good news,” Tuchel told reporters on Friday.

“We are disappointed and sad, because N’Golo was super important and super fit” before this injury, the coach added.

N’Golo Kanté, 31, is a pillar of the France team. He was injured on Sunday in the draw (2-2) against Tottenham in the league.

According to reports, he is feeling a pain in his right thigh on a trivial movement and had limped out.

The Frenchman will therefore most likely miss Chelsea’s Champions League campaign debut in September.

It’s yet another blow for the Blues, who have already been without Croatian midfielder Mateo Kovacic with a knee problem.
