As part of the qualifiers for CHAN 2023, the Super Eagles of Nigeria were beaten on Sunday by Ghana in Cape coast. On the same day, Niger also suffered a slight defeat against Togo in Lomé.
The Mena of Niger bowed on the smallest of the margins (1-0) in front of the hawks of Togo.
Diminished by the absence of seven (07) of its executives, and the assistant coach due to COVID-19, the Nigerien team balanced the tendencies by making equal play with the Togolese team in the first period.
But, in the 56th minute, the Togolese striker Ouatara appeared alone in front of Tanja Mamadou and won his duel with a cross shot from the left. 𝟏-𝟎.

On the same day, Nigeria conceded two goals in the first leg at Cape coast stadium.
The Ghanians were the better side in the second half with Afrieye Barneh converting from the spot in the 50th minute. In the 87th minute, Seidu Suraj got a chance to double the score.
The game therefore ended with 2:0 for Ghana.
The return matches will be played on Saturday September 3, 2022. At the Mathieu Kérékou stadium in Benin for the Togo-Niger game and in Abuja for the Ghana-Nigeria match.
