Chelsea conceded a third consecutive defeat in the Premier League against Newcastle (1-0) on Saturday. A new setback that deeply annoyed central defender Kalidou Koulibaly.
“It hurts. We came here to take three points. We knew they were in a good moment, that they are putting on some intensity and that especially at home they have their fans behind them. So we knew that was going to be very difficult for us. Unfortunately, we have a lot of injuries and we who were present today are not in a good moment. The break comes at the right time for us. We need to recharge the batteries, think of something else thing and come back after the World Cup with a different mentality,” said the Senegalese on Canal+.
“Today, Chelsea are not in their place and the only culprits are us. So we have to look each other in the eye and continue to work to put Chelsea in their place”, added the former player of Napoli.
Koulibaly, 31, has scored just one goal in 14 appearances, all of the matches of Chelsea this season.
