The Senegalese midfielder Joseph Lopy left FC Sochaux-Montbéliard to join Nîmes Olympique. His new club announced on Wednesday January 25, 2023.

Joseph Lopy, who was coming to the end of his contract at the end of this season, is now joining the Nîmes Olympique, currently last in the league championship 2.

Back in October, after being seriously injured last year, Joseph Lopy hardly played this season with the FCSM, since he appeared only twice, in the Coupe de France, and never in the league.

The player who will celebrate his 31st birthday in march had already been Sochaux for the first time from 2011 to 2015, before returning to the yellow and blue in the summer of 2020.

Lopy has become an international during this period, he won the African Cup of Nations in February 2022 with Senegal.

Although this departure to Nîmes could allow the Lion of Teranga to revive, he expressed his disappointment to AfrikPage. The player said he wished he could have stayed until the end of the season.
