The African Football Confederation (CAF) announced on Thursday a significant increase of 60% in the prize for the winner of the current TotalEnergies African Nations Championship (CHAN 2023).

The decision, which was confirmed by CAF President Dr. Patrice Motsepe, is part of CAF’s strategy to increase the commercial value of African competitions.

The quarter-finals of the competition kick off today. Algeria will face Ivory Coast at 4:00 p.m. and Senegal will play against Mauritania at 7:00 p.m. GMT.

Meanwhile, Mozambique v Madagascar and Ghana v Niger are scheduled for Saturday, January 28, 2023.


As a reminder, the final of this 7th edition will be played on February 4 at the Nelson Mandela Stadium.
