Ghana Black Stars player Christian Atsu is among the victims believed to have been trapped under rubble after a massive earthquake hit Turkey early this morning.

Reports say a search and rescue operation is underway after Atsu, who previously played for Chelsea and Newcastle United, was caught in the 7.7 magnitude earthquake.

The 31 year old Ghanaian international joined Super Lig club Hataysport last summer.

Just yesterday Christian Atsu scored Hatay spor’s only goal against KasımpaşaKasımpaşa.

More than 1,300 people lost their lives in the disaster, and another 6,000 were injured, officials said.

A massive 7.5 magnitude aftershock hit southern Turkey hours after the original quake. Reports say it was felt once again in Syria and also in Iraqi Kurdistan.
