Why Robinho is sentenced to 9 years in prison

Former soccer player Robson de Souza , ” Robinho ” will serve a nine-year prison sentence in a Brazilian prison , imposed by an Italian court for a crime of rape committed in Milan in 2013.

The Italian government had already requested the extradition of the former Milan striker in October 2013. After being accused of raping a young Albanian woman in Milan.

According to reports, the woman who was drunk in a nightclub, was later raped in a wardrobe by the group the player was a part of.


The Italian Supreme Court upheld the sentence of nine years previously handed down by the Court of Milan and seconded by the Court of Appeal.

It should be noted that the extradition of Brazilian citizens is constitutionally prohibited. The Federal Public Minister of Brazil endorsed the execution of the sentence in South American territory, where Robinho had taken refuge.
