Nigerians rejoice after win over Uganda in U-20 AFCON quarter-final. According to defender Abel Ogwuche, it was a big achievement for his side as Flying Eagles secured World Cup ticket.

The defender was named Man of the Match in the game (1-0) at the Suez Canal Stadium in Ismailia on Thursday. “It’s a great feeling to win and it was our dream since the start of the tournament to get the World Cup ticket and we can’t wait to bring the trophy home,” Abel said during the post-match press conference.



Ibrahim Juma scored an own goal in the first half to send Nigeria to the semi-finals of the U-20 Africa Cup of Nations.

“We just wanted to come and win. That was our motivation today, to get the World Cup ticket and we did it, added the Nigerian player. We had to secure our place in the World Cup. That’s why we all put in a strong performance to win.”


Nigeria will face the winner between Gambia and South Sudan in the semi-finals on Monday, March 6 at Cairo International Stadium at 7:00 p.m. local time (17:00 GMT).
