Nearly two years after her accreditation as Turkish ambassador to Togo, Esra Demir is leaving her post in Lomé. The diplomat announced her departure in a farewell message published this Friday, April 7, 2023.


“I am coming to the end of my duties as Ambassador of the Republic of Turkey in Lomé, which I continue with great honour. During my mandate, I was very honored and happy to witness and contribute to the progress of our relations with the friendly country Togo in all areas. “, read the note obtained by AfrikPage.

“Our political, economic, commercial and cultural relations with Togo have grown significantly over the past two years, with the opening of our embassy in April 2021, a natural result of our partnership policy with Africa.” adds Ms. Demir.

“During my tenure, we have always opened the doors of our Embassy to you, striving to establish close relations with you. I would like to express my gratitude for your closeness and support towards me and our Embassy. Finally, I would like to thank the Togolese authorities and my colleagues from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, with whom I worked in close collaboration with respect and mutual understanding.”

Esra Demir, 59, officially took office in Togo in April 2021. Prior to her appointment, the diplomat was posted in Côte d’Ivoire.
