Started on June 24, the 2023 edition of the Under-23 Africa Cup of Nations, AFCON U-23 is coming to an end. The finalists of the competition will be known after the semi-finals on Tuesday 04 July.
The U-23 teams of Egypt and Mali were the last to qualify for the AFCON semi-finals after their victories yesterday.
Egypt beat Gabon 2-0 in an intense game with late goals. The Young Pharaohs only took the lead in the 82nd minute thanks to a goal from Abdelmohsen Hassan.
A penalty was awarded to the defending champions in added time. Its transformation by Faisal confirmed the dominance of Egypt (2-0).
The other match opposed Niger to Mali at the Prince Moulay Abdellah stadium. The Malians were able to score their first goal thanks to a penalty in the 49th minute. An achievement from Mr. Sangare. The Nigeriens tried to fight back but found no breakthrough until C. Doumbia netted a second goal for Mali late in the game.
Mali and Gabon therefore joined Morocco and Guinea who qualified on Friday for the next stage. For the semi-finals, Egypt will face Guinea on Tuesday at 5 p.m U.T, while Morocco and Mali will face off at 8 p.m on the same day.

Note that the third place in this 4th edition of the AFCON U-23 is scheduled for Friday July 7, the day before the grand final.
