Victor Osimhen’s representative is considering legal action against Napoli following the posting of a video on the Italian club’s TikTok account, which seemingly ridiculed the Nigerian striker for missing a penalty during Sunday’s match against Bologna.
Roberto Calenda, Osimhen’s agent, expressed his dismay on Monday evening via social media. He stated, “The content posted on the official Napoli TikTok account is utterly unacceptable.”
“A video initially mocking Victor was shared, and although it was later removed, this incident has caused significant harm to the player. It compounds the recent media criticism and spread of false information,” added Calenda.
He went on to warn, “We reserve the right to take legal action and pursue any necessary measures to protect Victor.”
The TikTok post reportedly featured Osimhen’s failed penalty attempt during the match against Bologna, accompanied by a mocking voiceover saying.
Despite being the top scorer in Serie A last season, the 24-year-old Osimhen, along with his club, the reigning Italian champions now under the management of Frenchman Rudi Garcia, has had a mixed start to the season. While he has scored three goals, he openly expressed his frustration when substituted late in the Bologna match.
Osimhen, who joined Napoli from Lille in 2020, garnered interest from major European clubs like Chelsea and Manchester United this summer. However, Napoli’s president and owner, Aurelio De Laurentiis, vetoed any potential transfer and held multiple discussions with Osimhen’s agent to secure a contract extension.
Currently, Napoli sits 7th in the standings, trailing league leaders Inter by seven points. They are set to face Udinese on Wednesday in their upcoming 6th-day fixture.
