Application Open for EU-West Africa Fusion Artists Expo in Ghana

The European Union Office in Ghana has opened the application process for the EU-West Africa Fusion Artists and Residency Expo. Artists hailing from Ghana, Benin, Togo, and EU member states are encouraged to submit their applications for this event, set to take place in Kokrobite, Accra.

Musicians, fashion designers, painters, photographers, and street artists can submit their applications until January 3, 2024, through https://www.eu-fusion.org/. Envisioned with twelve artists from these countries, the exhibition aims to showcase the distinctive fusion of European and West African art, emphasizing a rich heritage, cultural diversity, and contemporary trends.

Through the EU-West Africa Fusion Artists and Residency Expo program, the EU aims to establish an educational platform for cultural exchanges and artistic expression, fostering understanding and appreciation of various art forms.

During a press conference, EU Ambassador Irchad Razaaly underscored Ghana’s rich cultural diversity in the region, expressing the EU’s dedication to facilitating intercultural exchanges and promoting Ghanaian and African culture and heritage in Europe and beyond.

The EU intends to amplify cultural exchanges, integration, and collaborations with European creatives through the program. Ambassador Razaaly emphasized the commitment to promoting cultural integration and cross-cultural collaboration in this special event involving Ghana, Togo, Benin, and EU member states.

Malgorzata Pitura, Head of the Cultural Desk at the EU in Ghana, clarified that the selection of candidates would occur in mid-January, with the residency program commencing on February 10 and winners announced on February 19, 2024.

As per the EU, the winning team in the Residency Expo will be honored with a prize of €3000 (approximately 390,000 Ghc).
