AFCON 2023: Lions of Cameroon and Senegal clash today

The AFCON Côte d’Ivoire 2023 is in full swing, with a thrilling second day of group stage matches scheduled for Friday, January 19. The highlight of the day is the eagerly awaited derby between the Lions of Cameroon and Senegal.

Following a 2-2 draw between Egypt and Ghana, Group B brings another exciting match on Friday as Cape Verde takes on Mozambique at Félix Houphouet Boigny Stadium.

Cape Verde, coming off a 2-1 victory against Ghana, is eyeing qualification for the round of 16. However, Mozambique, who held Egypt to a 2-2 draw in their first match, promises to be a formidable opponent. The kick-off is set for 2:00 PM GMT.

In Group C, defending champions Senegal will face Cameroon in a Lions derby at Charles Konan Banny Stadium in Yamoussoukro. With Senegal aiming for qualification, Cameroon can’t afford mistakes to control their fate. The clash kicks off at 5:00 PM.

The third match of the day features Guinea against Gambia. The highly anticipated Syli National needs a victory to increase its chances of advancing to the round of 16, but watch out for a potential surprise from The Gambia, defeated by Senegal on the first day.

As a reminder, Cameroon also had a draw game (1-1) against Guinea on January 15th.

Cape Verde vs. Mozambique at 2:00 PM.
– Senegal vs. Cameroon at 5:00 PM.
– Guinea vs. Gambia at 8:00 PM.
