Ngando Pickett, renowned as the ultimate supporter of Cameroon’s Indomitable Lions, faced a dramatic arrest at Douala airport on Monday, February 5, 2024, as he returned from the 2023 AFCON. The arrest occurred around 2 am, with reports suggesting a potential connection to an SOS he issued during his stay in Côte d’Ivoire.
Ngando Pickett, undeterred by the Indomitable Lions’ elimination, made headlines again as he touched down in Douala after their AFCON journey. His return took an unexpected turn as police detained him shortly after his plane landed.
Speaking on Equinoxe TV, Ngando Pickett shed light on the situation, acknowledging an understanding of the authorities’ actions. He addressed allegations that his conduct had dishonored Cameroon, stating, “There were issues; some believe that my behavior dishonored Cameroon, and I needed to explain. It’s entirely normal.”
Notorious for seeking financial aid after the Indomitable Lions’ elimination, Ngando Pickett’s SOS plea resulted in support from an Ivorian company. This move, however, has drawn criticism from his detractors, adding another layer to the unfolding story.

For more than three decades, Ngando, aged 72, has been a dedicated supporter of the Cameroon national team in international competitions across the globe. Recently, Pickett, also known as the 12th man of the Indomitable Lions, has garnered attention through viral videos expressing his frustration at not receiving the recognition he rightfully deserves.
As a recap, Cameroon faced elimination from the ongoing AFCON 2023 in Côte d’Ivoire. Their journey came to an end on January 27, as they were defeated 2-0 by the Super Eagles of Nigeria in the round of 16.
