African Games 2023 medal count highlights as of March 10th

The African Games 2023, hosted in Accra, Ghana since March 8, 2024, have witnessed a flurry of medal successes, with 22 nations already making their mark. Amidst a challenging start, the host nation, Ghana, has surged into the top 10 ranks.

As of Sunday, March 10, 2024, Egypt has exceeded its target of 60 medals, leading the pack among the 22 nations with a staggering total of 66 medals. Following closely behind is Algeria, bolstered by eight medals earned on Sunday, bringing its tally to 39.

Maintaining a formidable presence, South Africa holds onto third place with 28 medals, while Nigeria’s remarkable haul of 7 gold medals on Sunday propels it to fourth place with a total of 26 medals.



Other notable countries in the top 10 include Mauritius, boasting 6 medals, including 3 golds, Madagascar (10), Tunisia (17), Morocco (13), Uganda (7), and Ghana (4). Ghana’s standout performance secured its place in the top 10, with Winnifred Ntumi clinching the nation’s first medal—a silver in the women’s 49kg weightlifting category.

The 13th African Games, uniting athletes from over 50 nations, commenced on March 8 and are set to conclude on March 23, 2024.
