Early this morning in Riyadh, the capital of Saudi Arabia, British boxer of Nigerian origin, Anthony Joshua delivered a devastating blow to French-Cameroonian Francis Ngannou, knocking him out in the second round of their crossover fight. Joshua’s powerful right in the opening round sent Ngannou to the canvas, but he managed to recover momentarily. However, Joshua’s relentless assault in the early hours of Saturday sealed Ngannou’s fate.

With less than a minute left in round two, Ngannou was hit with another powerful combination, leaving him visibly groggy. Despite his efforts to stand, Joshua’s final blow rendered Ngannou unconscious, restoring a sense of order to the world of heavyweight boxing.

Ngannou took to social media to apologize for his defeat, acknowledging the disappointment felt by his fans. “Sorry guys I let you all down. Today was a bad day in the office but tomorrow will be another day. Thank you all for the love”, he stated.

This marked his second professional boxing fight, with his previous bout against Tyson Fury ending in a loss. While Ngannou’s debut had shown promise, Joshua’s determination and experience proved too much to overcome.
Joshua’s career hangs in the balance with every fight, having suffered three defeats in his last eight matches. Losing to Ngannou would have been particularly damaging due to the UFC fighter’s limited boxing experience.
