Update on Evan Ndicka ‘s health after collapsing during Udinese v Roma

AS Roma has provided an update on Evan Ndicka, the Ivorian footballer and defender for the Italian club, following his collapse during a match against Udinese on Sunday, April 14, 2024.

According to the latest reports, Evan Ndicka has been discharged from the hospital after collapsing during his team’s Serie A match against Udinese on Sunday.

Roma stated that the 24-year-old Ivory Coast international experienced chest pains on the field, but tests at the hospital confirmed that he did not suffer a heart attack.

“The player has been discharged and will undergo further examinations in Rome,” the club stated.

“AS Roma would like to extend their gratitude to Udinese and referee Luca Pairetto for their professionalism, as well as the medical staff at the Santa Maria della Misericordia hospital in Udine.”

“Together, in those tense moments, we exemplified the values of sportsmanship and prioritized the preservation of life.”

The Serie A match was halted after Ndicka collapsed in the 72nd minute and was subsequently stretchered off.

He appeared conscious as he was taken from the field, with the score tied at 1-1, and the remaining portion of the match will be rescheduled for a later date.

Roma shared a photo of him in the hospital on Sunday night, reporting that he “feels better” and that his teammates had visited him.

Following Ndicka’s collapse, Roma’s medical team and emergency services responded to the field, leading to the match being abandoned after discussions with the referee.

Born in Paris on August 20, 1999, Evan Ndicka represents Ivory Coast in the national team. He joined Roma on a free transfer from Eintracht Frankfurt in 2023 and has since made 19 appearances for the Italian club.
