Uganda- Afghan refugees set foot on Ugandan soil

The plane carrying Afghan refugees landed Wednesday morning at Entebbe International Airport, the former capital of Uganda.

At least 51 Afghan refugees arrived on Wednesday, August 25, 2021, we learned from local media.

Made up mainly of men, women and children, this first wave of Afghan refugees were subjected to “security checks, tests for the new coronavirus and will observe quarantine procedures” said the Ugandan Ministry of Foreign Affairs, cited by the same sources.

More refugees are still expected to be evacuated to Uganda.

However, according to reports, many refugees were blocked by Taliban.

The landlocked state in East Africa announced last week the arrival of 2,000 refugees from Afghanistan on its soil. This after a request from the United States.
