Voices are raising against the president of Senegal, Macky Sall and his government, after a fire outbreak killed Eleven (11) newborn babies in a public hospital.

Eleven babies died in a fire in the neonatal section of a regional hospital in Tivaouane, Senegal, about 120 km east of the capital Dakar, President Macky Sall said on Wednesday.

“I just learned with grief and dismay of the death of 11 newborns in the fire that occurred in the neonatal ward of the hospital Mame Abdou Aziz Sy dabakh Tivaouane.
A and their moms and their families, I express my deep sympathy, “said Sall on Twitter.

The Senegalese Health Minister Abdoulaye Diouf Sarr, said that according to preliminary investigations, the fire was caused by a short circuit.

Being at the moment in Geneva for the World Health Assembly, the Minister said he would shorten his trip and immediately return.

This comes a month after the death babies in a similar incident. In April, a fire broke out in a hospital in the city of Linguere in the north of the country, causing the death of four babies.

In response to this unfortunate incident, opposition MP Mamadou Lamine Diallo like many other Internet users blames the government.

“More babies burned in a public hospital, in addition to the name of Mame Abdou. This is unacceptable Macky_Sall!
We suffer with the families to whom we offer our condolences. Enough is enough. Your Minister Diouf Sarr must leave!”
