The Ghanian authorities have received this Saturday September 4, 2021, a delivery of 1,229,620 doses of Moderna anti-Covid-19 vaccines from the United States government.

An additional 1.3 million Pfizer vaccines are expected in Ghana by the end of September.

“These vaccines will save lives here in Ghana. Vaccines, along with other preventive protocols, will help control the pandemic and slow the development of new variants. We stand with the Government of Ghana in its fight to stop the spread of COVID-19,” said Stephanie S. Sullivan, the U.S. Ambassador to Ghana.

Nana Akufo-Addo’s country has already made use of 177,600 doses of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine.

A few weeks ago, a delivery of some 249,000 doses of Astrazeneca vaccines from the UK government landed in Accra.

Vaccinating 20 million Ghanaians by the end of 2021 is the target of the government.

According to the figures updated since July 2021 by the Ghana Health Service, only 405,971 persons have been fully vaccinated in the country.
